STAGE 1) FOUNDATION

Foundation Video
In this video, let’s talk about the Foundation. Now when you think of Foundation you think of terms such as support or base. So we’re going to talk about how your actual hair is laid before you put your wig on. This is very important in order to get your wig to lay as flat as possible. If your hair is relaxed or if you are natural and it is silk pressed out you can wear your hair in a bun in the back. If you are natural I recommend cornrowing your hair in medium cornrows, in about 8 or more cornrows. Now if you want to wash your hair every week and you don’t want to have to detangle cornrows out of your hair every week I would recommend putting your hair in a bun the night before. I personally was my hair while my hair is in the cornrows every week. Since I was my hair while it is in cornrows I have to take my cornrows out every 4-5 weeks in order to prevent matting at the root.

STAGE 2) KNOT MANIPULATION

Video on How To Bleach Knots on Lace Wig

In this video, I show you how to bleach the knots for your wig. Bleaching the knots is not a necessary step. You can definitely use make-up to conceal the knots on your wig but bleaching I personally feel is hands down the best way to conceal your knots. I recommend bleaching the knots before you pluck your wig.

To get started you need:

  • (2 parts) bleaching powder
  • (1 part) 30Voll developer for about 15 min developer (The process can go quicker if you use 40Vol developer since it works really fast! But if you are not use to bleaching your knots I recommend using 30V developer.)
  • Plastic gloves in order to protect your skin from the bleach
  • Plastic bowl to mix
  • Plastic spoon to mix
Mix the developer and bleach well.

You don't want your mix to be too watery. It will leak through to the knots and  onto the roots of your hair. You don't want that to happen because then your roots will turn blonde.
Once the developer has the roots dyed, rinse out the wig really well
Then shampoo with a neutralizing shampoo in order to stop the chemical process.
Condition the hair and let the hair air-dry. Now you are ready to pluck the knots.
Make sure to watch the video to see how I bleach the knots of the hair before doing this process if you are a beginner

When it comes to plucking the lace these are the tools I recommend you have in order to make the process easier.

      Tools Needed:

      • Mousse/Setting Foam
      • tweezers
      • scissors
      • wig head
      • T-Pins
      • Spray Bottle
      • Duck Clips
      • Tail Comb

Use Mousse/Setting Foam (or water if you don't have mousse) to set the hair in place and out of the way when plucking. After that you need to use your tweezers/comb to separate the baby hair from the rest of the hairline. Now start to pluck behind the hairline. And remember to TAKE YOUR TIME. You don't want to over pluck and have bald spots on your wig. pluck every other section. Pluck going backward and forward. Also check your taking a step back and pulling the hair back to see how the hair line is starting to look.
